DEPARTMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS Budget Budget
Funds are provided to various City departments to support the direct cost of
sidewalk repair activities.
City Attorney – Funds are provided for legal advice relating to the California $ 75,058 $ 77,988
Environmental Quality Act and the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act and
support for the Sidewalk Repair Program.
Disability – Funds are provided for a Sidewalk Repair Program liaison to assist 55,229 59,301
the Department of Public Works in the prioritization of projects and creation of a
tracking system of accessibility requirements for the City’s Sidewalk Repair
Program.
General Services – Funds are provided for materials testing support services 76,053 81,864
for the sidewalk repair work performed by the Bureau of Street Services.
Information Technology Agency – Funds were provided to partially fund the 35,418 --
implementation of a payroll system used by positions associated with the
Sidewalk Repair Program.
Public Works
Board of Public Works – Funds are provided for direct accounting support 160,473 167,766
for the Sidewalk Repair Fund and for the Sidewalk Repair Incentive Program.
Bureau of Contract Administration – Funds are provided for construction 1,149,253 1,249,687
inspection and contract compliance for sidewalk repairs.
Bureau of Engineering – Funds are provided for program management and 2,181,159 2,253,684
oversight of all components of the Sidewalk Repair Program, including
standards, construction, technology development, and reporting.
Bureau of Street Services – Funds are provided for the repair and 11,610,957 11,884,579
construction of sidewalk access ramps, four crews to repair sidewalk locations
requested by the disability community as part of the Access Request Program,
one crew to repair sidewalks identified as high liability locations, tree pre- and
post-inspection for sidewalk repair locations, and associated administrative
support functions. In 2022-23, funding is provided by the Sidewalk Repair
Fund ($8,494,815). In addition, funding for access ramps is provided by the
Measure R Local Return Fund ($3,389,764).
Transportation – Funds are provided for dedicated field support to repair, 172,345 184,694
relocate, or construct traffic signal equipment and cabling as part of repairing the
sidewalk.
