Green Buildings and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
Priority Outcome: Promote good jobs for Angelenos all across Los Angeles
This program consists of the Green Building, Electrical and Mechanical Plan Check, and Test Lab Sections
and is responsible for accepting and reviewing plans for compliance with Green, Electrical, and Mechanical
codes; issuing electrical and mechanical permits for new construction, additions, remodels, or repair of single-
family dwellings, duplexes, apartments, industrial, commercial, and office buildings; reviewing, testing, and
approving electrical and mechanical (e.g., heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and plumbing) products or
materials; and reviewing and approving alternate methods of construction.

22. Existing Building Energy and Water Efficiency Program 767,100 8 1,147,882
Continue funding and add regular authority for eight positions
consisting of one Building Mechanical Engineer II, one
Mechanical Engineering Associate IV, three Office Engineering
Technician IIIs, two Office Engineering Technician IIs, and one
Senior Administrative Clerk to support the Existing Building
Energy and Water Efficiency Ordinance. Continue funding in
the Transportation Account to provide mileage reimbursement.
Funding is provided by the Building and Safety Building Permit
Fund. Related costs consist of employee benefits.
